For a new construction finish choose a nail-on flange window.  It involves attaching the window frame to the building's sheeting/plywood using a nail-on flange that is integrated into the window frame.  This window can be finished with a variety of styles using wood or composite trim. European and sliding doors can come with a nail on flange.

A rebate flange is a specialized feature integrated into the window frame that allows the window to be installed directly onto the existing wall without the need for additional exterior trim or finishing.  European and sliding doors can come with a rebate flange.

For some senerios no flange is required for example, when installing in brick or concrete.

Single or double doors are installed in between the framing of an opening.  There is no flange on these doors.  There is a variety of moldings and trims to choose from for the finishing.
